The Opportunity
Copying the same information between forms, spreadsheets, customer systems, and finance tools is repetitive and prone to mistakes. It is also higher-risk than it looks: a wrong field mapping or duplicate retry can quietly damage many records.
That makes data movement a poor place to pretend that a drafting prototype is already an automation system. The current ANTS workspace stores its own local requests, Ant settings, and workbench history only.
What Exists Today
There is no Data Ant workflow, data connector, scheduled import, extraction pipeline, synchronization job, or external write action in the current product. The Document and Research Brief workflows can help a person reason about text they deliberately supply, but they are not substitutes for structured data processing.
A Responsible Future Workflow
1. Connect one scoped source and destination
A future Data Ant should begin with narrow, revocable permissions and a visible field map rather than broad access to every business system.
2. Preview the proposed change
Before any write, a reviewer should see the source value, destination field, validation result, and whether the operation would create, update, skip, or conflict with a record.
3. Approve, execute, and verify
Approved operations would need idempotent retries, durable logs, failure recovery, and a verified result from the destination system. A preview or copied value must never be reported as a completed update.
Roadmap Gate
- Accounts and workspace-level authorization before any business data leaves the local browser.
- Connector scopes, credential storage, revocation, and clear ownership of every source and destination.
- Schema validation, duplicate protection, conflict handling, approval policy, and durable execution logs.
- A small pilot on reversible, low-risk records before considering unattended execution.
